CALSTART AND PUBLIC POLICY
Public policy has a significant impact on the clean transportation technology industry, with local, state, and national laws and regulations acting as major industry drivers. As a technology-neutral consortium and nonprofit, CALSTART seeks to provide guidance and support for these critical policies. CALSTART’s close contact with fleet managers, policymakers, researchers, scientists, technology developers, and manufacturers puts the organization in a unique position to supply policymakers with valuable information and perspective from a variety of stakeholders. As a part of this effort, CALSTART created the California Secure Transportation Energy Partnership (CalSTEP) to forge a consensus plan for California’s transportation energy future. CALSTART also provides its member companies with up-to-date information on the complex web of public policies that affect the clean transportation technology industry. CALSTART understands the legislative and regulatory environment and tracks relevant policy initiatives and developments, with a particular focus on the innovative and first-in-the-nation policies in California.
