Melissa Barthel

Project Manager I

Melissa Barthel is a Project Manager in the Midwest Regional Office at CALSTART, where she champions the integration of alternative fuels into the Midwest.  She leads the development of working groups to further the initiative of zero-emission or near-zero-emission transportation.  She also supports the coordination and needs between manufacturers, suppliers, utilities and government to further CALSTART’s mission.

Prior to joining CALSTART, Melissa worked as a System Validation Engineer to confirm proper design and function of vehicle air bags at General Motors. She previously worked at Takata, TMI Climate Solutions and various architectural engineering firms designing building systems.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate of Technical and Professional Communication from Lawrence Technological University.  She has completed both Six Sigma and LEED certification.
