Supporting Washington State’s Clean Transportation Future

Program Administration
CALSTART is serving as the third-party administrator for WAZIP, the new Washington State zero-emission MHDV incentive program for on- and off-road vehicles. Led at the state level by Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, this point-of-sale voucher incentive program is designed to encourage faster adoption of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) vehicles to further state equity and climate goals.

Program Design & Framework
The Washington State Incentive Program is expected to follow recommendations from the Washington Joint Transportation Committee (JTC) incentive design study completed in January 2024.
Based on Proven Success
Washington state’s new program will mirror elements of California’s Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), the United States’ most widely recognized point-of-sale discount program that makes zero-emission vehicles more affordable for California fleets and businesses.
