PASADENA, CA — During the Forth Roadmap Conference today, hosted by Forth, CALSTART’s President and CEO, Michael Berube, announced that CALSTART will rebrand under a new name: Catalyst Mobility™, effective September 14, 2026. The name represents a renewed vision for the nonprofit focused on advancing clean, equitable, and affordable transportation solutions that move all people and goods.

Berube also announced that Forth, a national nonprofit working to advance transportation electrification, will be combining with Catalyst Mobility at the start of 2027. By bridging shared missions, programs, and partners, the nonprofit will have greater access to diverse funding, grants, and public contracts; a larger pool of networking contacts; and a stronger footprint in the Pacific Northwest with the launch of a regional office in Portland, Oregon, home of Forth’s headquarters.
As one organization, Catalyst Mobility will help scale the clean transportation industry globally by advancing innovative programs, forward-thinking policies, and breakthrough technologies that expand mobility choices and accelerate market transformation.
“For more than three decades, this organization has existed to catalyze a cleaner, more competitive transportation industry with our members and partners,” said Catalyst Mobility’s President and CEO, Michael Berube. “This new name does not change who we are. It sharpens how we show up for the next chapter by highlighting how we’re Building Clean Transportation Together™.
“Everyone deserves access to clean, affordable transportation, and we’re building the organization needed to make that a reality,” said Jeff Allen, Executive Director of Forth. “With the combination of Forth and CALSTART, we strengthen our ability to create a transportation system that is equitable and works for everyone.”
“Clean transportation technology is maturing quickly across passenger and freight, and it still has gaps operators feel every day, including standards, infrastructure, financing, and the grid,” said Henrik Holland, Catalyst Mobility’s Board Chair. “Catalyst Mobility is where that work happens, and bringing this scale and this many stakeholders together is what makes this an exciting moment.”
From bikes to big rigs, Catalyst Mobility is ready to build the future of clean transportation together. Watch Berube’s video detailing his vision for Catalyst Mobility and learn about the benefits of membership.
BACKGROUND
For over 30 years, CALSTART has been at the forefront of the clean transportation industry, working with industry, government, and community partners to fulfill its mission to change transportation for good. But after three decades, the organization has evolved and outgrown its old name.
The nonprofit, and the industry it has catalyzed, are mature, growing, and fostering clean transportation options and related economic growth and good-paying jobs across the United States and internationally. While “CALSTART” no longer fits its identity today, the organization remains steadfast in its mission to advance the clean transportation industry nationally and worldwide with continued support from like-minded organizations, including members and partners.
Complementary to CALSTART’s work, Forth has built successful long-running electric vehicle and charging infrastructure programs to spur electrification across the United States and has expanded its work to advance emerging modes of transportation in the agriculture and micromobility spaces. With a membership network that spans six industry sectors, their focus on partnerships and increasing equitable access to clean transportation is core to their success.
Recognizing that collaboration is the best way to drive meaningful change and maximize impact, Forth looked for a partner with aligned goals and complementary work. That search led Forth and CALSTART to join forces, and today, we come together as Catalyst Mobility to amplify our collective impact and advance clean and equitable transportation with one voice.
Accomplishments from both nonprofits signal that clean transportation for all is not a distant hope, but rather a movement sparked by the determination of impactful organizations backed by industry, government, and community partners. Now is when we can accelerate affordable clean transportation solutions and turn ideas into progress.
