CALSTART’s Data Insights & Analytics (DnA) activity supports all of the organization’s initiatives. DnA provides performance analysis and evaluation of clean technologies and fuels; supplies technical assistance and identifies best management practices for fleets to help deploy and maximize efficient use of clean technologies; conducts life-cycle cost analysis and market projections to enable informed decision-making; and accelerates zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption through greater accessibility of data and knowledge products.

PILOT AND DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS

DnA helps manage pilot and demonstration projects to provide technical assistance to fleets deploying clean technologies and to evaluate and analyze the performance and lifetime cost of those technologies. Lessons learned from these projects offer valuable insights to fleets, utilities, and policymakers.

Frito-Lay ZANZEFF (A)

Zero- and Near-Zero Emission Freight Facility Project

DnA supported the deployment of several zero-emission and near-zero-emission vehicles, infrastructure, and equipment as part of the transformative ZANZEFF project conducted at the Frito-Lay manufacturing facility in Modesto, CA.

A landmark project to deploy 100 Class 8 battery-electric trucks (BETs) across Southern California to help advance market penetration of heavy-duty BETs.

Medium- and Heavy-Duty (MHD): Data Collection

Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, DnA and its project partners collected and analyzed data from a diverse set of electric vehicles (EVs) across different applications, geographies, terrains, and climatic conditions.

A pilot project funded by the California Air Resources Board to deploy zero-emission transportation and technology options in selected schools in California, including Lincoln High School in the San Diego Unified School District.

Low Impact Green Heavy Transport Solutions Project

A collaboration among 15 organizations to demonstrate zero-emission technologies, including forklifts, yard tractors, Class 7 trucks, Class 8 tractors, and electric vehicle supply equipment at two freight facilities in Southern California.

The California Zero-Emission Vehicle Population Dashboard tracks when and where MHD ZEVs are deployed in California, as well as how much funding CARB provided to help put them on the road.
