As Global Director, Vehicle Compliance, Cynthia Williams is instrumental in steering Ford’s vehicle environmental strategy, policy, and performance. She ensures that Ford consistently meets or exceeds all global vehicle environmental regulations, a responsibility deeply aligned with the company’s enduring purpose of building a better world where everyone can move freely and pursue their aspirations. Cynthia emphasizes that creating a better world necessitates responsible vehicle manufacturing, ensuring accessibility and affordability, and safeguarding the environment and local communities.
Her role demands a profound understanding of transportation and climate policy, coupled with a creative mindset and exceptional collaborative skills. Cynthia is invigorated by the challenges and opportunities within the fast-paced automotive industry, and she is passionate about shaping a future of mobility that is inclusive, innovative, just, and sustainable.
A native of Flint, MI, Cynthia embarked on her Ford journey in 1992 through the Ford College Graduate Program, starting in the Automotive Emissions and Fuel Economy Office. Her extensive career at Ford includes diverse leadership positions such as Sustainability, Environment and Safety Director in Asia Pacific, Automotive Safety Assistant Director, Environmental Policy Manager, and On-Board Diagnostics Compliance Manager. Beyond her direct responsibilities at Ford, Cynthia actively contributes to the broader clean transportation movement. She serves on the Boards of Directors for Catalyst Mobility and VELOZ, both non-profit organizations dedicated to advancing clean and efficient transportation solutions.
Additionally, she is a member of the Michigan Governor’s Council on Climate Solutions, Maryland’s Advanced Clean Cars Workgroup, and the Torch of Wisdom Foundation, Inc. board. Cynthia is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of sustainability leaders, including young engineers, peers, and youth.
