The White House and its allies in Congress have taken steps to destroy the U.S. electric vehicle industry. From repealing emissions standards to slashing clean energy tax credits, these moves are designed to tilt the market back toward fossil fuels. If these efforts succeed, California will be a big loser in terms of its economy, environment and public health. For California to remain a beacon for state action, it needs to respond swiftly to the full-on assault on the EV industry. It has not yet done so.
