Work History

Alberto’s career started in local government both as a consultant and for the City of San Diego’s Environmental Policy and Analysis group. He then completed a master’s degree in public policy at UC San Diego where he pursued dual specializations in Energy/Environmental Policy and Health Policy.

While obtaining his master’s, Alberto worked in legislative consulting and led a team that assessed the feasibility of achieving California’s Net Zero goals for San Diego Gas & Electric. He was also selected to represent the University of California at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). After completing his master’s Alberto joined CALSTART in 2022 where has worked on a variety of incentive projects, mostly within California.

Work Approach

One of my primary motivations is combating the climate crisis and protecting our planet for future generations. Day to day, I strive to achieve these goals with an analytical and data-driven approach to decision-making. I believe deeply in the power of collaboration and always seek input from my team to ensure we consider multiple approaches and creative solutions to every challenge.
