King Fio’s CEO, Jennie Abarca

CALSTART member King Fio Trucking has been a leading organization in zero-emission trucking since its inception, serving the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to move cargo. With 3 locations, 30 trucks in their fleet, and 30 terminals that they serve, King Fio continues to make an impact on zero-emission trucking in California.

We recently caught up with King Fio’s CEO, Jennie Abarca, on her experiences in the zero-emission trucking industry. Read more below.

Q: What has your journey towards using zero-emission trucking been like so far?

An uphill climb.  It should be easier.  We have this big problem of climate change and there is a solution.  We need to not only talk about what we can do but DO what we can.

Q: What inspired you to get involved with the clean transportation industry?

My children!  I care deeply about the problems they are going to inherit from us.  I need to do what I can now.

Q: How have your truck drivers reacted to using zero-emission vehicles on a day-to-day basis?

They love them, and will never go back to diesel.

Q: How does making a commitment to zero-emission trucking benefit your truck drivers?

Noise pollution, easier on their bodies, they don’t smell diesel fumes.

Q: How does being a CALSTART member help King Fio continue pushing for incentives to keep its drivers working with clean transportation?

CALSTART has been a great partner in getting my story out to other industry leaders.  We can all make this change.

Q: What would you say to other trucking organizations looking to make the switch to zero-emission vehicles?

Do it!  It’s the future of our industry.
