ZET SCALE

Zero-Emission Truck Shipper-Carrier Alliance Leading Electrification

A PARTNERSHIP WITH CATALYST MOBILITY

WHAT IS ZET SCALE?

ZET SCALE is a demand-driven collaboration accelerating the deployment of up to 10,000 Class 8 battery-electric trucks across North America. The effort brings together shippers, carriers, truck manufacturers, and charging and finance providers into one joint purchase — turning a daunting, expensive transition into a clear, affordable, and lower-risk path. This means no stakeholder has to navigate this work alone.

Rather than asking individual companies to navigate the transition alone, ZET SCALE aligns the entire value chain — unlocking better vehicle pricing, innovative financing, coordinated charging infrastructure, and freight demand that helps make zero-emission trucking commercially viable.

As the initiative grows, ZET SCALE is actively welcoming new partners across the freight ecosystem to participate in future deployment rounds.

We’ve secured the largest electric truck order in North American history — 2,500 Class 8 battery-electric trucks now under contract, a single deal that nearly doubles the U.S. electric Class 8 fleet. Read our announcement →

The alliance is open to additional shippers and carriers ready to lead.

WHO IT’S FOR

A clear role whether you move freight or haul it

For shippers: Decarbonize your freight without the premium or the risk

Meet your climate commitments with zero-emission capacity — and help build the demand you need.

  • Hit your goals: make measurable progress on Scope 3 emissions reductions and sustainability targets by shifting freight to zero-emission capacity.
  • Priority access: secure early allocation of trucks for your preferred lanes and hubs.
  • Shape demand: help signal demand for zero-emission road freight and steer how it scales, without operating trucks yourself or paying a green premium to ship electric.

More than 15 leading shippers are already engaged in ZET SCALE, contributing information and helping design cost-effective zero-emission deployments on their lanes. This is helping shape demand for zero-emission trucks and break through the green premium barrier that persists today. Program participation does not imply a procurement obligation.

Some of the shippers engaged in ZET SCALE include:

  • Brambles/CHEP
  • IKEA
  • Microsoft
  • Red Bull
  • And many others…

For carriers: go electric without doing it alone

Access freight, better truck pricing, affordable turn-key leases, and shared charging infrastructure — with the demand certainty that makes the math work.

  • Premium Class 8 BEVs: high-performance Class 8 BEVs with longer range, faster charging, and improved operational performance.
  • Bulk procurement pricing: coordinated, large-scale purchasing with lower acquisition costs and improved fleet economics.
  • Competitive lease financing: a fair market value lease that lowers monthly costs, preserves capital, and eliminates residual risk. ZET SCALE has a strategic partnership with ZET Financial, which provides EV leases to interested and qualified carriers.
  • Priority access to shipper freight: direct introductions to participating shippers and qualifying freight — often before traditional diesel operators.
  • Flexible charging solutions: private, shared, and public charging options designed around your specific operation.

HOW ZET SCALE WORKS

One coordinated joint purchase, aligning the whole ecosystem. Aggregating demand this way lowers truck prices, reduces charging and maintenance costs, improves truck uptime, cuts empty miles, and delivers an improved business case on the highest-volume routes.

MORE THAN A GROUP PURCHASE

An industry transformation mechanism

ZET SCALE is more than a group purchase — it’s designed to move electric trucks from isolated pilots to affordable deployment at scale. The barriers to zero-emission trucking aren’t primarily technical. They’re the risk and uncertainty each stakeholder faces when acting alone. ZET SCALE removes that risk by coordinating the whole ecosystem at once: shippers gain verifiable capacity without a cost premium, carriers get access to priority freight and better economics, manufacturers unlock the volume certainty to scale production, and charging and finance providers get a clear opportunity to build around.

We’re led by two experienced NGOs, Smart Freight Centre and Catalyst Mobility, acting as neutral conveners. That lets us de-risk participation for everyone at the table and take the industry to the next level — creating conditions it can then replicate and sustain on its own.

Get Involved

Join us in accessing affordable, scalable zero-emission trucking

The first phase of ZET SCALE is underway, but building a zero-emission freight ecosystem requires continued collaboration across the industry. We are actively seeking new partners to participate in future deployment rounds, including:

  • Shippers looking to decarbonize freight
  • Carriers expanding zero-emission operations
  • Charging and infrastructure providers
  • Fleet financing and leasing organizations
  • Public agencies and other strategic collaborators

Whether you’re looking to deploy trucks, support charging infrastructure, provide financing, or help scale the ecosystem, ZET SCALE offers an opportunity to shape the future of zero-emission freight.
