Rachel Chard

Deputy Director

Rachel Chard joined CALSTART in July 2021 as a Lead Project Manager in the Midwest Region. She manages various projects in the transit bus industry and assists agencies with planning, procuring, and deploying zero-emission vehicles. With nearly 10 years of experience in the education sector, Rachel aims to expand CALSTART’s efforts in the electrification of school bus fleets across the country.

Prior to joining CALSTART, Rachel worked for Sacramento City Unified School District as their Environmental Sustainability Manager. During this time, she oversaw the district’s bus fleet electrification projects and electric vehicle workplace charging program. Rachel holds a Master of Engineering in Sustainable Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts in Planning and Community Development from St. Cloud State University.
