EZfare: The Gateway – Multimodal Strategy and Technology Assessment

NEORide, a Council of Governments (COG) comprised of at least sixteen transit agency members across Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky, launched EZfare, a new fare collection solution in June 2019. EZfare seamlessly connects public transit across the region by utilizing a single payment platform between all NEORide member agencies. Using the free EZfare app, transit riders now have the option to purchase tickets in-app that can be used to travel between the more than thirteen participating counties’ transit networks. By offering on-demand ticket purchases via a mobile ticketing system, riders save time by purchasing directly through their smart phone or tablet, eliminating the need for transfer paper tickets.

California Transit Agencies Chart a Course to Zero Emissions: A review of proposed ZEB pathways under the innovative clean transit regulation

California’s Innovative Clean Transit (ICT) regulation requires all transit agencies to purchase only zero-emission buses (ZEBs) starting in 2029. This regulation will result in a statewide zero-emission transit fleet by 2040 as ageing conventionally-fueled buses are replaced or repowered by ZEBs. To create a shared roadmap, the ICT requires all transit agencies to submit Rollout Plans detailing the types of buses, acquisition dates, and optional costs for the buses and infrastructure – most large transit agencies and one small agency have submitted their publicly available plans.
