Taking Commercial Fleet Electrification to Scale: Financing Barriers and Solutions

California's 10+ years of public investment in zero-emission vehicle technologies has built a major home-grown industry in the state and created thriving small-businesses, demonstrated by CALSTART's recent study, which shows that the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) industry has already created nearly 70,000 jobs in California. The study concludes that California also likely leads the nation in the total number of "green" vehicle technology companies, many of them small businesses. The study began with a ground-up, location-specific approach that set out to capture a verifiable metric for the impact that ZEV manufacturing has on the California economy. CALSTART hopes that this study helps policymakers better understand the benefits of our public ZEV incentive investments to the California economy.

Zeroing in on ZEBs – 2020 Edition

Since the creation of the Clean Air Act (CAA), the federal government has been working with public and private organizations to reduce the amount of pollution released into the atmosphere. Transit buses have historically and predominantly operated on diesel fuel. Although buses produce less smog per capita than cars, they still release toxic fumes like nitrous oxide directly into urban communities.

First Jurisdictions Commit to Launch Groundbreaking Program to Reduce Transportation Emissions on East Coast | Jan 21, 2121

Over the holidays, four Northeast jurisdictions signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding to join the Transportation and Climate Initiative Program (TCI-P) cap-and-invest program beginning in 2022. The TCI-P will set a declining cap on carbon emissions generated by the transportation sectors in participating jurisdictions, and require petroleum suppliers to purchase allowances for the pollution generated by sales of their fuels in these markets.
