Pasadena, CA – CALSTART, a mission-driven industry organization focused on transportation decarbonization, is applauding California’s launch of a $500 million funding effort to accelerate the state’s switch to zero-emission school buses as announced last week. In response to this news, Rachel Chard, Deputy Director of Electric School Buses, CALSTART, issued the following statement to press:

“CALSTART applauds California’s historic investment in zero-emission school transportation. By replacing 1,000 old polluting school buses with new zero-emission school buses, the state is transforming transportation for good and improving the lives of students and entire communities. Importantly, California is also setting a new standard for transportation leadership that has the power to inspire other states. The Zero-Emission School Bus and Infrastructure (ZESBI) project underscores the state’s steadfast commitment to bringing clean transportation solutions to scale with speed,” said Rachel Chard, Deputy Director of Electric School Buses, CALSTART.
