CALSTART Adds Two New Industry Leaders
to its Board of Directors

PASADENA, Calif. – CALSTART is pleased to announce the election of two top executives in the clean transportation industry to its Board of Directors: Andrei Greenawalt of Via and Mark Patten of Next Era Energy Resources.  Via is the global leader in TransitTech, and NextEra Energy Resources is the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun, and is a world leader in battery storage.

Andrei Greenawalt is Executive Vice President and Head of Global Policy at Via. Via works with cities and transit agencies in more than 600 communities and 35 countries to use technology to digitize public transit systems, plan smarter on-demand and fixed route transit networks and safer streets, and modernize paratransit. As a result, communities reduce greenhouse gas emissions and private vehicle ownership, and increase access to jobs, healthcare and educational opportunities.

Greenawalt previously worked on regulatory and policy issues at the White House from 2009-14, including as Policy Advisor in the Office of the Chief of Staff and as Associate Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He also served in the White House offices of Cabinet Affairs and Legislative Affairs. Greenawalt is a graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School, and served as a law clerk to two federal judges and worked for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform.

Mark Patten is a vice president at NextEra Energy Resources and leads NextEra Mobility, a premier provider of integrated fleet electrification solutions, serving clients across North America. NextEra Energy Resources is leading the decarbonization of the U.S. economy – by working to become the preferred partner for customers in every industry, who share its vision of a sustainable, carbon-free future.

Patten joined NextEra Energy Resources in 2012 and has held positions of increasing responsibility across multiple disciplines, including finance, strategy, mergers and acquisitions and asset management. Before joining the Mobility team, he led a team responsible for managing a large portfolio (~10GW) of renewable and battery storage assets in the Western U.S. and Canada. Prior to joining NextEra Energy Resources, he worked in venture capital as a Principal at Crossbow Ventures. Patten holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Methodist University and an MBA from Florida Atlantic University.

“We are pleased to add these two highly qualified and reputable clean transportation executives to our Board of Directors. We will greatly benefit from their perspective and insight as we work to accelerate the growth of the clean transportation industry and reduce U.S. greenhouse gas transportation emissions by 80% over the next seven years,” said CALSTART President and CEO John Boesel.
