Exchange for More BETs Webinar
April 29 @ 9:00 am – 10:15 am PDT

The urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions requires a strong focus on the transport sector, particularly on trucks due to their carbon footprint. Zero-emission trucks (ZETs) have the potential to provide substantial benefits, including lower energy costs and improved working conditions. However, these advantages must be validated and quantified through real-world deployments. While demonstration projects have been ongoing for several years, their results and broader implications for the future of transportation have not been systematically analyzed across national borders.
Despite the early stage of the ZET market, Sweden and the United States are among the leading countries in the development and deployment of this technology. The accelerated adoption of ZETs depends on effective data collection and open communication about both the successes and challenges experienced by early adopters. International knowledge sharing can drive innovation by highlighting different strategies used to overcome common barriers to adoption. CALSTART and Lindholmen Science Park have played key roles in early deployment projects in the U.S. and Sweden, working to understand how these vehicles perform in real-world fleet operations.
From February 2024 to April 2025, the Exchange for More BETs project, funded by the Swedish Innovation Agency’s Future Mobility Program, has provided a collaborative framework for CALSTART and Lindholmen Science Park to examine what has worked well, what challenges remain, and how lessons learned in one country can benefit the other.
Agenda:
• Swedish Deployment Projects Overview and Case Deep Dives presented by Lindholmen Science Park (LSP)
• OEM experiences on electric truck deployment and future ramp-up in USA and Europe presented by Volvo
• Comparison of the electric truck deployment and ramp-up in USA and Europe presented by CALSTART and LSP
• Q&A
