New rebate program will help taxi, rideshare drivers adopt electric vehicles
Ride Clean Mass, which launched Tuesday, will provide financial incentives to vehicle-for-hire drivers who make the switch from gas-powered vehicles. When it’s combined with other state and federal incentives, this means drivers could save up to $20,000, depending on eligibility.
The program has a goal of providing $5.35 million in rebates and getting 1,000 to 2,000 new electric vehicles on the road in 2025.
“These drivers log countless miles every day, and by helping them switch to EVs, we’re not only empowering them to save on fuel and maintenance, but also taking a giant step toward improving air quality across Massachusetts.” Jason Zimbler, Light-Duty Vehicle Director, CALSTART.
