CALSTART Announces New Members to Board of Directors

Additions bring focus on EV investment and scalable solutions.

Pasadena, CA – CALSTART, a mission-driven industry organization focused on transportation decarbonization, is pleased to welcome two new members to its Board of Directors: Avninder Buttar, Element Fleet Management’s Senior Vice President and Head of Electrification, and Henrik Holland, Prologis’ Senior Vice President and Global Head of Mobility.

Element Fleet Management is the largest publicly traded pure-play automotive fleet manager in the world. Element provides end-to-end fleet management services and solutions, from electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and energy management to vehicle acquisition, maintenance, accidents, and remarketing. With more than 1.5 million vehicles under management, Element serves corporations, governments, and nonprofits across North America, Australia, and New Zealand.

Prologis is the global leader in logistics real estate and provides energy solutions such as solar and fleet electrification infrastructure. The company owns or has investments in properties and development projects of approximately 1.2 billion square feet in 19 countries and enables 2.8 percent of the world’s GDP.

Avninder Buttar

Avninder Buttar is the Senior Vice President and Head of Electrification for Element and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s global electrification strategy, including product development, client delivery, and strategic partner engagement.

He is an experienced executive and a strategic leader focused on innovation and client centricity. Avninder is passionate about accelerating global decarbonization.

Before taking on his current role with Element, Avninder was the company’s Vice President, Strategy, responsible for EV strategy and telematics, and founded their end-to-end EV offering, Arc by Element—an innovative full-service fleet electrification offering that deploys charging, infrastructure, and energy management products for Element’s clients. Prior to Element, Avninder served in a variety of global corporate strategy and management consulting roles and has worked across multiple industries including public transit; retail; hospitality; and testing, inspection, and certification (TIC), amongst others.

Avninder holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University. Avninder is also bilingual, speaking both English and Punjabi.

Henrik Holland

Henrik Holland is the Senior Vice President and Global Head of Prologis Mobility. Prologis is the global leader in logistics real estate and provides energy solutions such as solar and fleet electrification infrastructure. Henrik leads the company’s robust EV charging offerings, uniquely positioning the company to deliver leading solutions at depots, workplaces, and charging hubs.

Prior to joining Prologis in 2021, Henrik served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Shell Greenlots for 18 years, responsible for overseeing the company’s operations, project engineering, delivery, and end-to-end customer support. Before his role as COO, he led New Energies’ Electric Mobility Corporate Development efforts, including the acquisition of Greenlots. Henrik also founded Shell’s Connected Energy group, driving business development and product strategy, resulting in a pipeline of over 100 megawatts of customer-sited distributed energy projects.

Henrik is actively involved in industry advisory roles, serving on the Electric Vehicle Working Group (EVWG) established by the U.S. Joint Office of Energy and Transportation. He also contributes to the Investor Advisory Board at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and has mentored startups through Techstars. Henrik holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration and is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
