Innovations in ZE Technology from WattEV and Tevva Increase Viability of Fleet Electrification | July 26th, 2022

This month on CCTU, we heard the latest from WattEV on their plans for building out a zero-emission (ZE) trucking corridor in California and their innovative Truck-as-a-Service (TaaS) business model. WattEV’s TaaS model provides access to ZE trucks at a rate competitive with diesel, helping eliminate entry barriers for those looking to transition their fleets to ZE. This model reduces the initial costs of fleet electrification by using ZE trucks as a service rather than assets. Our hosts had the chance to speak with WattEV’s CEO and Co-Founder, Salim Youssefzadeh, about his startup’s collaboration with the Port of Long Beach to create a southern hub for WattEV’s charging network within the port. This location will be instrumental to building out a corridor that will stretch from Long Beach to Sacramento. Together, WattEV’s TaaS model and growing charging network have huge implications for the viability and accessibility of zero-emission trucking on the West Coast.

We also heard from Tevva’s Marketing Director David Thackray on plans for bringing their innovative battery-electric truck to the U.S. by 2024. Please join us next time for CCTU by registering on our website. Until then, follow us on social media @CALSTART. We will CCT-you soon!
